about

The Freedom Ring is an attempt to make something deeper and better than the sonic distractions that pass for popular music these days. Something has been robbed from us, something has made our music duller and simpler, impoverished us both materially and spiritually. The hegemonic Ego-music that we’ve been fed and surrounded by for our entire lives is nothing, a dull thumping in the walls, a propaganda of hopelessness, a self-imposed prison from which we refuse to look up and see the variegated plumage of the transdimensional rainbow phoenix hanging in the sky with our soul-names caught in its beak.

The Freedom Ring tries to reverse all that bad cultural ju-ju within the idiosyncratic confines of one middle-aged white guy’s concept album.

There is soul in this music, and I hope that your soul can feel and respond to it. Most of us are just pretending to be soulless so we can keep our place in the pyramid. But the pyramid is collapsing- you don’t need to pretend that you believe in it or enjoy it anymore. Let it go, free your mind, try on some new concepts. See where it takes you. See who aligns with you. Work with them! The future is unwritten, an undiscovered country waiting to be shaped and brought into being by you. A greater intelligence works through us, through me, through you, desperate to be freed from the dead appendages of the past.
